TCL/LJ 262457: Our client seeks a Corporate Accountant for an assignment within its Finance ICT Revenues & Benefits division.
We are acting for a Hertfordshire based local authority
The post will be located in Borehamwood, WD6 and will be for 36 hpw, Mon-Fri, normal business hours.
This is anticipated to be, initially at least, a 3 to 4 month assignment.
Please note that under a special arrangement we have with a leading umbrella company, temps who elect to get paid under this route will receive, in addition to a higher hourly rate of pay, the following benefits which are not available under PAYE:

Essence of role:
Our client requires a corporate accountant to work 3 days a week within its engineering services department and two days a week in central finance.
Within engineering services, the individual will be responsible for overseeing the finance function and producing accurate trading accounts. The role will also include the review of the existing finance system, procedures and practices and the individual will be required to make recommendations for improvements, which will include the implementation of a cost accounting system to ensure engineers time is allocated correctly.
Within the corporate finance team, the individual will be required to work along side other members of staff on tasks including budgeting, the finance strategy, report writing, as well as leading on a project plan to implement system/procedure improvements in response to changes to the Council Use of Resources judgment under the new Comprehensive Area Assessment.
Candidate requirements (*indicates must be CLEARLY EVIDENT FROM YOUR CV, not just your covering letter, to avoid auto-rejection by client) include:
*You must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA) with an extensive corporate finance background within a local authority.
*You must possess good excel and report writing skills, as well as the ability to communicate well with staff of all levels.
NB Preference will be given to candidates who have practical experience of Use of Resources and cost accounting.
